Evacuation Challenges Persist for Americans in Sudan Amid Ceasefire and Gunfire

Americans and other foreign nationals are struggling to flee Sudan amid fierce fighting between the Sudanese military and a rival paramilitary group. While the United States has already evacuated its diplomats and their families, tens of thousands of other foreign citizens remain behind. Britain, France, and Germany have sent airplanes to Sudan to help evacuate their citizens, and other countries, such as India, have organized convoys to Port Sudan on the Red Sea. The situation in Sudan is not comparable to that in Afghanistan, and the US has no plans to send in armed forces.
