London cleans North Kensington after Notting Hill Carnival waste haul

More than 300 tonnes of waste were cleared from North Kensington in an overnight operation by about 200 staff and 30 waste vehicles as the Notting Hill Carnival’s 60th anniversary celebrations concluded, with the aim of reopening roads for residents. Around two million people attended, and about 30% of the waste is expected to be recycled, while cleaning and street-washing work continues across the carnival area through the week.
