US and Canada increase military aid to Ukraine, including Abrams tank training.

The US is expediting the delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to Germany for Ukrainian troops to train on, as part of efforts to supply Ukraine with more armored capability. The tanks will be used for a 10-week course, but will not be sent to Ukraine for its war effort. The US is also refurbishing another 31 Abrams tanks for frontline deployment to Ukraine later this year. Germany and Poland have signed a joint memorandum on a repair system for Leopard 2 tanks damaged during the war in Ukraine, with a hub near the Ukrainian border in Poland expected to begin work around the end of May.
