Deadly Wildfires Ravage Algeria and Tunisia, Leaving Destruction and Death in Their Wake

At least 34 people have died and thousands have been evacuated as wildfires sweep across Algeria, with 97 outbreaks recorded across 16 provinces. The fires have affected forests, crops, and farmland, and about 8,000 firefighters are working to bring them under control. The most extensive fires are in the Kabylie region, spreading to residential areas in Bejaia and Jijel. The heatwave in northern Algeria, with temperatures reaching 48C, is expected to continue until the end of the month.
