Devastating Evros wildfire wipes out goat breeder's livelihood

Goat breeder Kleanthis Raptis lost most of his livestock in a deadly wildfire that has been burning for over two weeks in the northeastern region of Evros, Greece. The wildfire, Europe's deadliest this summer, has killed at least 20 people, destroyed homes, and scorched forests, including the protected Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli park. Raptis, who had previously saved his livestock from a fire last year, expressed despair as his stable was burnt to the ground, leaving behind only charred remains. The government attributes the severity of the wildfires to extremely dry, windy, and hot conditions linked to climate change.
