Villages Evacuated as Wildfire Engulfs Tenerife National Park in Spain

A wildfire in a national park on the Spanish island of Tenerife has spread to 300 hectares, leading to the evacuation of five villages and the closure of access to the forest surrounding Mount Teide. The fire, which started on Tuesday night, is raging through a forested area in steep ravines, making firefighting efforts challenging. About 10 helicopters, 150 firefighters, and 50 military personnel are working to contain the wildfire, which could take more than a day to bring under control. The heatwave in the Canary Islands has increased the risk of wildfires, and Tenerife's two airports are operating normally.
