Biden Administration Extends Temporary Legal Status for Immigrants Trump Sought to End.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has rescinded the prior administration's terminations of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua, and extended TPS for these countries for 18 months. The extension allows current beneficiaries who are already present in the United States and cannot return due to environmental disasters to continue receiving safety and protection. Eligibility criteria, timelines, and procedures for re-registering for TPS and renewing Employment Authorization Documents will be explained in forthcoming Federal Register notices.
