Biden's deportations lead to decline in Venezuelan migrants at U.S. southern border

The number of Venezuelans crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally dropped by 46% in October after the Biden administration started deporting some migrants directly to Venezuela. The decrease in Venezuelan arrivals was more pronounced after the deportation flights began. Overall illegal entries along the southern border also decreased by 14% in October. The drop in Venezuelan arrivals could be a breakthrough moment for the Biden administration's efforts to manage the unprecedented levels of Venezuelan migration to the U.S. However, the downward trend may change as conditions in Venezuela remain dire.
