China dismisses European Parliament's Hong Kong resolutions as a 'publicity stunt'

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong criticized the European Parliament's resolution on Hong Kong as a "despicable act" that "trampled" on international law. The resolution called for the release of pro-democracy tycoon Jimmy Lai and other activists, as well as targeted sanctions against city leader John Lee and other officials responsible for the crackdown on human rights in Hong Kong. China dismissed the resolution as a "publicity stunt" and said it was "doomed to fail".
