Chinese Comedian Arrested for Military Joke, Sparks Controversy.

Chinese comedian Li Haoshi was arrested and his employer fined $1.2 million after he made a joke about the People’s Liberation Army during a recent show. The joke went viral and drew the attention of the Beijing Cultural Law Enforcement Agency and other agencies. Haoshi and his employer tried to distance themselves from the remark, but were still punished. Chinese authorities have also banned many talk shows that have provided a platform for comedians that are popular with young people in China.
