Controversy Erupts Over Police Handling of Anti-Monarchy Protests During King Charles's Coronation

Human rights groups and politicians in the UK have criticized the Metropolitan Police's arrests of dozens of demonstrators during King Charles III's coronation. Republic, an anti-monarchy group, said police arrested six of its members, including leader Graham Smith, and seized hundreds of placards even before its event began. The arrests came as the Met warned of its "significant police operation" for the day. Three people were arrested near Buckingham Palace and "held on suspicion of possessing articles to cause criminal damage," officials said.
