Far-right Polish lawmaker extinguishes Hanukkah candles in parliament

A far-right Polish lawmaker, Grzegorz Braun, caused chaos during a Hanukkah celebration in the country's parliament by grabbing a fire extinguisher and dousing a large Hanukkah candle display. The incident, captured on video, forced the evacuation of Jewish families and resulted in a member of the Jewish community being blasted in the face with white powder. Braun, who has a history of making anti-Semitic remarks, described Hanukkah as "satanic" and argued that he was restoring "normality." He was later booted from the parliamentary session, fined, and condemned by other members of parliament, including the Speaker. Poland's Chief Rabbi expressed embarrassment over Braun's actions, while the country's Catholic church issued an apology to the Jewish community.
