Finland's Right-Wing Government Plans to Cut Immigration and Spending

Finland's new four-party coalition government, including the far-right Finns party, plans to cut spending, tighten citizenship rules, and reduce immigration. The coalition, led by conservative leader Petteri Orpo, has been described as the most rightwing administration in Finland's history. The government aims to halve the number of refugees it receives through the UN refugee agency and establish separate social security benefit systems for immigrants and permanent residents. The Finns party will control seven of 19 ministries, including finance, foreign trade and development, social affairs, justice, and the interior.
