Honduran President Visits China After Cutting Ties with Taiwan.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro has arrived in China on her first visit since the country established ties with Honduras, breaking off diplomatic relations with Taiwan. Castro will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to plan for future development of ties and attend the inauguration of Honduras' embassy in Beijing. China has intensified its efforts to win away Taiwan's diplomatic allies since 2016, managing to lure away nine of Taiwan's former partners with a campaign involving billions of dollars of investments. Honduras is eyeing large investments from China in infrastructure projects, including a new hydroelectric dam.
