Honduras switches allegiance from Taiwan to China, raising concerns.

Taiwan has warned Honduras against accepting aid from China, even if it is indebted, and has ruled out engaging in a bidding war for diplomatic allies with China. Honduras has asked Taiwan to double its annual aid to $100 million but never received an answer. The country is partly switching allegiance to China because it is "up to its neck" in financial challenges and debt, including $600 million it owes Taiwan. The US, Taiwan's most important international backer, is watching with concern as China has increased its footprint in Latin America at the expense of Taiwan.
