Hong Kong police incentivize arrests of overseas pro-democracy activists

Hong Kong police have offered rewards of 1 million Hong Kong dollars ($127,600) each for information leading to the arrests of eight self-exiled pro-democracy activists accused of violating the National Security Law. The activists, including former lawmakers and activists, are currently living in the U.S., Britain, Canada, and Australia. The police have issued arrest warrants for the eight, but acknowledge that they will not be able to arrest them if they remain overseas. The move comes as part of Beijing's increasing scrutiny of Hong Kong and its crackdown on dissent, with over 260 people arrested under the National Security Law. The activists have been accused of various offenses, including foreign collusion and inciting secession.
