Israeli woman pardoned by UAE from life sentence.

The UAE has pardoned an Israeli woman, Fidaa Kiwan, who was convicted on drug charges and faced life in prison. Kiwan, an Arab-Israeli photographer, was arrested in April 2021 for possessing cocaine and cannabis while visiting Dubai for work. Israel called her pardon a "special gesture" to President Isaac Herzog, who had requested her release. The UAE and Israel normalized relations under a US-brokered deal in 2020 known as the Abraham Accords.
