Jewish visitors will be barred from the Temple Mount for the last 10 days of Ramadan, according to a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office. The decision was unanimously recommended by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, and Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai following a consultation earlier that day. The Temple Mount is the holiest site for Jews and the third-holiest shrine in Islam, and tensions have been high in recent weeks.
