Kamala Harris boosts aid and diplomacy in Caribbean during official visit.

US Vice President Kamala Harris announced over $100 million in investments to help the Caribbean region, including cracking down on weapons trafficking, supporting climate change initiatives, and alleviating Haiti's humanitarian crisis. The US Justice Department will appoint a coordinator to oversee cases involving illegal weapons smuggling in the Caribbean, while the State Department will help improve forensic work, strengthen local police departments, and support a unit aimed at helping islands solve gun-related cases. The US will also establish a program to mentor local judges and prosecutors in the eastern Caribbean to improve prosecutions of gun-related crimes. The US Agency for International Development will invest nearly $54 million in Haiti to help fight starvation and provide access to potable water and healthcare.
