Regional leaders like Naveen Patnaik, K Chandrasekhar Rao, Mayawati, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sukhbir Singh Badal, and HD Kumaraswamy were not invited to the June 23 meeting of opposition parties hosted by Nitish Kumar's JD(U) because they did not clear their commitment towards fighting against the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. JD(U) dismissed BJP's claim that these leaders have disassociated themselves from the meeting, stating that they were not extended any invitation. Nitish Kumar had earlier sought the support of Naveen Patnaik in uniting opposition parties against the BJP, but Patnaik did not discuss any alliances during their meeting.
