Latvian PM Krisjanis Karins Steps Down

Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins has announced his resignation after failing to convince coalition partners of a cabinet reshuffle. Karins, who has served since 2019, stated that the Green Party and the populist national association All for Latvia were blocking progress in welfare and economic growth. His New Unity party plans to select a candidate for the post of prime minister on Wednesday, and the next Latvian election for parliament is scheduled for 2026.
