French President Emmanuel Macron's recent comments questioning Europe's allegiance to the United States and suggesting that Europe should not take cues from the US agenda in regards to China's tensions with Taiwan have drawn criticism from both sides of the Atlantic. The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) said that Macron's comments are "severely out of touch" with European leadership sentiment.
