Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei reportedly warned Texas Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez of an impending surge of 80,000 predominantly Venezuelan migrants heading for the US border ahead of the end of Title 42. Gonzalez went to the White House to warn them, but nobody took his calls. The White House has not commented on the matter. The Guatemalan President has a history of criticizing the US handling of the border crisis, while some believe Guatemala is also to blame for the failures of Biden's border policies due to corruption tied to drug cartels.
