Netanyahu faces mounting pressure as protests and strikes sweep Israel.

Over 100,000 people protested outside the Knesset in Jerusalem against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned judicial overhaul legislation, while right-wingers organized a counter-protest which drew a few thousand people. Protests were also held in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba. Netanyahu's expected announcement of halting the legislation was delayed as he huddled with coalition leaders amid reported threats by Otzma Yehudit leader Itamar Ben Gvir to quit. The Knesset committee approved a highly contentious bill that would give the coalition broad control over the selection of judges and the Supreme Court chief.
