Putin's Attendance at BRICS Summit in Question Amidst ICC Debate

Ukrainian activist Oleksandra Romantsova suggested to South African officials that Russian President Vladimir Putin should attend this year's BRICS summit in South Africa virtually rather than in person, due to the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing an arrest warrant for Putin last month. South Africa, as an ICC member, would be required to detain Putin if he attends the summit. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said this week that his government was still deliberating what to do about the warrant for Putin, and attending the summit virtually was an option being considered.
