Rep. Ashley Hinson clashed with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the agency's budget request, pointing out that the word "cartel" was not mentioned in the 100-page document. Hinson expressed concern that Mayorkas was not listening to the men and women on the front lines and accused him of mischaracterizing their commitment to border security. Mayorkas disagreed with Hinson's mischaracterizations and stated that they were fully supporting the personnel of the Department of Homeland Security. Both parties agreed that the fentanyl crisis was a pressing issue, with more than 70,000 Americans dying a year.
