A protest group representing reserve soldiers and officers in Israel, known as Brothers in Arms, has threatened mass refusal to serve if the government moves ahead with its plans to curtail the power of the judiciary. The group has been protesting for 11 weeks against the government’s plans, which they say will turn Israel into a dictatorship. The reservists have warned that they will not be able to serve in an undemocratic Israel. The government’s moves are “fast approaching a red line,” according to Lt. Col. (res.) Ron Scherf, one of the founders of Brothers in Arms.
