Serbians Confront Culture of Violence and Surrender Thousands of Weapons After Mass Shootings

Following two mass shootings in Serbia, tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in protest against what they view as a culture of violence in the country. While the government has announced a "general disarmament" programme, protesters are calling for the resignation of senior officials and the revocation of licences of pro-government broadcasters. The protests are focused on the root causes of the shootings, including a culture of both rhetorical and physical violence which they believe has grown since the Serbian Progressive Party took power in 2012.
