Taiwan's President Faces Opposition from China During Trips Abroad

Taiwan's Deputy Defence Minister Po Horng-huei has stated that the country's defence ministry has contingency plans for any moves by China during President Tsai Ing-wen's upcoming overseas visit to the United States and Central America. China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory, has previously carried out large-scale war games around the island during high-profile visits by foreign officials. The United States has said there is no reason for China to react to Tsai's trip, saying such transits are routine and have happened many times before.
