Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group of mercenaries, appears to have turned on Russian President Vladimir Putin, blaming him for the deaths of his troops in Ukraine. Leaked US intelligence documents allegedly show that Prigozhin complained to Putin about the lack of ammunition for his troops, and Russian military officials considered launching a smear campaign to discredit him. Prigozhin has vowed to withdraw his troops from Bakhmut by May 10. Prigozhin's relationship with Putin dates back to the 1990s when his catering companies served the Kremlin, and he has since become an informal advisor to the Russian president.
