UN agency for Palestinian refugees faces service cuts due to lack of funding.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, is facing a shortfall of $150 million to $200 million annually, which could result in service cuts or salary delays by fall. Donors provided only $107 million in new funds, significantly less than the $300 million the agency had called for to keep its programs running through the end of the year. UNRWA provides health and education services, as well as cash assistance to families in Syria, Lebanon, the Israeli-occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, and Jordan. The head of UNRWA has warned donors not to take for granted the agency's ability to "muddle through."
