Violent clashes erupt over proposed Lyon-Turin rail link in France.

Twelve police officers were wounded in clashes with protesters in France's Savoie department during a demonstration against a high-speed rail project in the Alps. The protesters threw rocks at riot police, who responded with tear gas. One demonstrator was also wounded. The protest was against the construction of a rail link, including a tunnel between Lyon and the Italian city of Turin.
