US President Joe Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, met with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah to discuss "strategic relations" and a "more secure and prosperous Middle East region interconnected with India and the world." The meeting comes amid tensions between the US and Saudi Arabia, with Biden previously promising to make the kingdom a "pariah" after the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Saudi Arabia has sought a detente with Iran and played a role in bringing Syria back into the Arab League.
