"Charting the Challenging Path to Peace in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict"

The Israel-Palestine conflict faces five major obstacles to peace: Hamas' commitment to Israel's destruction and the impossibility of peace with them, Netanyahu's far-right coalition government's opposition to a Palestinian state, Palestinian hopelessness exacerbated by the conflict, the West Bank settler movement, and regional power competition involving Iran and Gulf Arab states. Despite these challenges, the end of the current war may offer a rare opportunity for progress, but it will require overcoming deeply entrenched issues and significant changes in both leadership and policy.
