Pope Francis has named 21 new cardinals, including Archbishop Robert Prevost and Archbishop Christophe Pierre, who have ties to the Church in the United States. Prevost, the head of the Vatican's Dicastery for Bishops, was born in Chicago and has served in various roles within the Augustinian order. Pierre, the current apostolic nuncio to the United States, has extensive experience in the Church's diplomatic corps. Both will be formally elevated to the rank of cardinal on September 30.
