Taiwan grants full adoption rights to same-sex couples.

Taiwan's legislature passed an amendment allowing same-sex couples to adopt children they are not biologically related to, widening joint adoption. Taiwan legalized gay marriage in 2019, but until now, those married couples could only adopt children related to one of the partners. The Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights has been calling for this change, saying the island "fails to guarantee the full rights of same-sex couples in matters of adoption."
