The European Union has designated Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos as "very large online platforms" (VLOPs) under the Digital Services Act (DSA), subjecting them to the same strict rules as social media sites like Facebook and TikTok. These rules include measures to prevent the spread of illegal content, protection of minors, transparency reporting, and privacy and security measures. Failure to comply can result in fines of up to six percent of annual global revenue. The EU is already holding some VLOPs accountable and has opened infringement proceedings against X for potential violations of the DSA.
