"Germany, France, Italy Forge Historic AI Regulation Agreement"

Germany, France, and Italy have reached an agreement on future regulation of artificial intelligence (AI), favoring binding voluntary commitments for both large and small AI providers in the European Union. The European Commission, Parliament, and EU Council are currently negotiating the bloc's position on AI regulation. The three governments oppose the idea of initially making the code of conduct binding only for major AI providers, as it could disadvantage smaller European providers. While no sanctions will be imposed initially, a system of sanctions may be established for violations of the code of conduct in the future. A European authority would monitor compliance with the standards.
