A 13-year-old girl in China spent $64,000 on pay-to-play mobile games using her mother's debit card over a five-month period. Her mother only found out when the school called her, and she discovered her bank account had a balance of just 7 cents. The teenager reportedly deleted transactions and messages to hide the evidence from her parents and gifted funds to classmates who wanted to play. The mother is now trying to get refunds from the platforms but has yet to receive the funds. China has attempted to curb children's addiction to online gaming by limiting their game time to three hours a week in 2021.
