JetBlue joins other U.S. airlines in cutting flights to Haiti, where it costs 24 times more to fly to the U.S.

American Airlines has downgraded its Miami service and reduced the number of flights to Port-au-Prince. Other airlines have no seats available for the next few weeks. The economic divergence between Haiti and the Dominican Republic suggests that Haiti's problems are home-grown, including massive corruption. Savvy travelers can take regional flights to the Dominican Republic or Providenciales in Turks and Caicos to fly to Miami at a lower cost.
