Mexico Spring Break Travel Warnings Issued by U.S. Embassy

The US Embassy in Mexico has issued a travel alert for spring breakers, warning them to be alert against criminal activity, avoid unregulated alcohol, and not possess or use drugs. The alert also directs travelers to the US State Department's travel advisory for Mexico, which is broken down by state and was last updated in October. While most Mexican states fall under the lower Level 2 category, where travelers are urged to "exercise increased caution," Tamaulipas, where four Americans were recently kidnapped, is one of six states that carry a "Do Not Travel" warning.
