Overboard Incident on Carnival Splendor Delays Next Sydney Sailing Amid Rescue
TL;DR
An elderly male passenger, believed to be in his 70s, went overboard from the Carnival Splendor during a four‑night cruise from Sydney. Authorities launched a major search and rescue operation off the coast near Brisbane, with AMSA coordinating multiple boats, helicopters and aircraft as the ship altered course. The incident has delayed the Splendor’s return to Sydney and postponed the next sailing’s embarkation, with Carnival communicating revised timings to guests while authorities investigate.
