Taiwan's Taroko National Park, a popular tourist destination, has been closed indefinitely following the strongest earthquake in 25 years. The park's trails and facilities have been damaged, and all 32 trails are currently closed. The closure is to ensure visitor safety while repair work is carried out, and permits for accessing ecological protected areas in the park have been canceled. Significant damage, including rockfalls and landslides, has been reported in the rugged terrain of Taroko Gorge, but the Hehuan Mountain area, partially within the park, is expected to gradually reopen.
