"Indian Navy Mobilizes Against Hijacking Attempt in Arabian Sea"
TL;DR
The Indian Navy has been dispatched to respond to a piracy incident involving the hijacking of the MV Lila Norfolk, a Liberian-flagged ship with 15 Indian crew members, off the coast of Somalia. The crew, who had taken refuge in the ship's citadel, sent a distress call after armed individuals boarded the vessel. The Indian Navy's guided missile destroyer INS Chennai is on its way to provide assistance, while a patrol aircraft is monitoring the situation and has confirmed the crew's safety. This event has reignited concerns about the potential resurgence of piracy near Somalia, a significant threat to international shipping in the past.
