Notre Dame Cross Restored 5 Years After Fire

Over five years after the devastating 2019 fire, the cross at the apse of Notre-Dame de Paris has been reinstalled atop the cathedral's framework following meticulous restoration by ironworkers in Normandy. The cross, which survived the fire, was repaired to its original 19th-century design by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. The ongoing restoration project, involving around 250 companies and hundreds of professionals, aims to reopen the cathedral on December 8, 2024.
