Taliban closes women's radio station over music.

Afghanistan's only women-run radio station, Sadai Banowan, has been shut down by the Taliban for playing music during Ramadan, violating the "laws and regulations of the Islamic Emirate." The station's head denies any violation and calls it a conspiracy. Many journalists have lost their jobs since the Taliban takeover in August 2021, and the Taliban have barred women from most forms of employment and education beyond the sixth grade.
