The humanitarian group Mercy Corps has warned that Haiti is on the brink of civil war due to escalating violence between gangs and civilians, which has also sparked a hunger crisis in the country. With gangs taking over large parts of the capital, families are losing access to basic necessities, including food and clean water. The violence has been exacerbated by a series of crises facing the country, including natural disasters, political instability, and a cholera outbreak. Nearly half of the country's population is starving, according to Mercy Corps.
