Preschool Teachers Attacked in Front of Toddlers in D.C. Neighborhood
Day-care teachers and toddlers from a D.C. day-care center were attacked by a man while on a routine walk through a neighborhood. The man, who had been asking for money, assaulted two female day-care workers in front of 24 toddlers and eight other staff members. He also exposed himself to the workers and children before fleeing the scene. The incident highlights concerns about safety in the city and the need to address mental health issues. The attacker has a history of arrests related to aggressive panhandling and disorderly conduct. Local officials are calling for a reexamination of laws regarding involuntary detention for mental health evaluation.
