Deadly Earthquake Strikes Southern Ecuador, Leaving Destruction in its Wake.
At least 15 people have died and over 400 are injured after a 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador's southern coast. The southern province of El Oro was the worst affected, with 12 people dead. Northern Peru also felt the quake, and a 14-year-old girl died in Tumbes when her home collapsed. Buildings were damaged in several cities, including Machala and Cuenca, and several roads have been blocked by landslides. This is the strongest quake to hit Ecuador since 2016.
