Despite the conventional wisdom that holding a party convention in a swing state can provide an electoral boost, data shows that since 2000, the party that hosted the convention won the state just six out of 12 times. Holding a convention in a swing state has little to no electoral benefit, and the choice of Chicago for the 2024 Democratic National Convention over Atlanta, a swing state, is not surprising given logistical and political factors.
